Generator installation in Palmetto, GA
Backup power on the south side
Palmetto has its own power company, a rural edge and a recent reminder of how quickly the lights can go out.
June 2026 outage
On June 28, 2026, a tree fell on transmission lines on Collinsworth Road and cut power to most of Palmetto's neighborhoods.
City-owned power
Palmetto runs its own electric system as a MEAG Power community. Georgia Power also serves the area.
Rural lots
About 12 percent of Palmetto residents live in rural areas. Homes without natural gas can run a generator on propane.
Palmetto, or a neighboring jurisdiction?
Homes inside Palmetto city limits are permitted by the City of Palmetto.
The Palmetto ZIP code also covers the separate city of Chattahoochee Hills and parts of Coweta County, so a Palmetto address doesn't always mean the City of Palmetto. We pull the permit, schedule the inspection and handle it either way.
